Heroes wanted

Practising the art style, layers and masking and using the watercolour brushes in the right way in photoshop.

i also noticed the given brush sizes were wrong for the template i was meant to be using.



putting my own and other people's work together and altering bits to work in the given art style.






In my spare time I decided to do a portrait study of Captain Picard from Star Trek, with my new Wacom Mobile Studio Pro!
Using oil paint textured brushes in Photoshop.
Not happy with his head shape as i made it a bit squashed and i think i made him look a bit older than i wanted, but i like how the colouring/ rendering came out.

Heroes wanted Process of the background i have been doing for the last 3 weeks, it's taken a lot longer than i anticipated, as there is a lot of detail! finished background. Horseplay Inspirational mood boards, researching the style and look i want to have for the setting and people. I found my self being particularly inspired by the new yorker front covers, as i like the quirkiness and style of the caricatures and the visual story telling. I found my self looking at lots of children story book artists, i found i enjoyed the ones with patterns, and minimal line art. Using the mood boards for inspiration, to find my own look from their inspiration.  Working over my sketches with Posca pens, using my fingers to mix the paint while wet, to get a watercolour painted look. working out lady Gertrude's look and Gary's head. Week 3 – The Paranoid Goat Sketches & Mood Board

We had a writing workshop where my group was given cards to create a story from.  This was the first story idea I wrote: Synopsis: A young girl befriends a troubled old magician and helps him work through his depression through the power of their friendship. One year, a magician named Desmond visits a town where a young girl named Skye lives. Skye has been looking forward to the upcoming fayre for months, and seeing Desmond practicing his magic tricks at the local inn, she realises that the magician is unhappy. The other children are amazed by the magic tricks but are too scared of Desmond to go near him. Although she knows not to talk to strangers, Skye plucks up the courage to begin talking to Desmond, who at first tries to ignore her, but then teaches her a simple trick in an attempt to satisfy her: making a handkerchief vanish up his sleeve.
