Heroes wanted

Process of the background i have been doing for the last 3 weeks,

it's taken a lot longer than i anticipated, as there is a lot of detail!

Horseplay

Inspirational mood boards, researching the style and look i want to have for the setting and people.

I found my self being particularly inspired by the new yorker front covers, as i like the quirkiness and style of the caricatures and the visual story telling.

I found my self looking at lots of children story book artists, i found i enjoyed the ones with patterns, and minimal line art.

Using the mood boards for inspiration, to find my own look from their inspiration. 

Working over my sketches with Posca pens, using my fingers to mix the paint while wet, to get a watercolour painted look.

My attempt at making a story board, for the first scene.  i think i need to add more to it to get the timing right, but also work on the space, composition and angles of the shots.

Diversity

Test shots working on the light table, working with other member in my group, i'm really happy how these came out, the tracing paper creates a beautiful saturation of the shadows and light. We played with layering the tracing paper, to make a city scape look, i also smugeding ink pens on asertate paper to experiment with interesting textures and opacity
