Heroes wanted Process of the background i have been doing for the last 3 weeks, it's taken a lot longer than i anticipated, as there is a lot of detail! finished background. Horseplay Inspirational mood boards, researching the style and look i want to have for the setting and people. I found my self being particularly inspired by the new yorker front covers, as i like the quirkiness and style of the caricatures and the visual story telling. I found my self looking at lots of children story book artists, i found i enjoyed the ones with patterns, and minimal line art. Using the mood boards for inspiration, to find my own look from their inspiration.  Working over my sketches with Posca pens, using my fingers to mix the paint while wet, to get a watercolour painted look. working out lady Gertrude's look and Gary's head. Diversity   Test shots on the light table, experimenting with different styles and materials. Horseplay a small story board inspired by Norman Thewell My inspiration for horseplay: me and my shetland pony as a little girl, and having grown up with horses i wanted to capture the comedy and caricatures in the horses i got to know.  Norman Thewell mood boards Shetland Pony inspiration Setting Inspiration Horse anatomy Horse show-wear Expression inspiration Art styles and shapes  I find these sculptures to be really inspiring as i love the style and over the top shapes. sketches 'Mist' idea I think this style works well, inspired by the shapes in the sculpture mood board, but also Norman Thewell's cartoons.
