Week 9 – Shelterbox



Shelter Box Landing
Thinking that I would pick up after effects easily was a big mistake!
The learning curve to learn to use the puppet tool and animate well was a big challenge for me, also learning how to use effects to create drop shadows took me a while to get my head around. I felt very restricted in what I could do animation-wise, until eventually I felt I had got my head around after-effects.


With the shelter box landing shot my main challenge was to get the timing of the landing right so it didn’t look like his feet were slipping on the ground, I had to make them bend at the right time in reaction to the impact of the  ground.

Heroes wanted Process of the background i have been doing for the last 3 weeks, it's taken a lot longer than i anticipated, as there is a lot of detail! finished background. Horseplay Inspirational mood boards, researching the style and look i want to have for the setting and people. I found my self being particularly inspired by the new yorker front covers, as i like the quirkiness and style of the caricatures and the visual story telling. I found my self looking at lots of children story book artists, i found i enjoyed the ones with patterns, and minimal line art. Week 3 – The Paranoid Goat Sketches & Mood Board

We had a writing workshop where my group was given cards to create a story from.  This was the first story idea I wrote: Synopsis: A young girl befriends a troubled old magician and helps him work through his depression through the power of their friendship. One year, a magician named Desmond visits a town where a young girl named Skye lives. Skye has been looking forward to the upcoming fayre for months, and seeing Desmond practicing his magic tricks at the local inn, she realises that the magician is unhappy. The other children are amazed by the magic tricks but are too scared of Desmond to go near him. Although she knows not to talk to strangers, Skye plucks up the courage to begin talking to Desmond, who at first tries to ignore her, but then teaches her a simple trick in an attempt to satisfy her: making a handkerchief vanish up his sleeve.
